WALNUT - The Walnut 5K Run/Walk for ALS Research (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) will be held on Saturday, July 3. The run/walk will start at 8 a.m. in front of the Bureau Valley Elementary Walnut Campus.
The entry fee is $15 if received by June 25 and T-shirts are guaranteed to all who register by that date. Race day registration will be held prior to race from 6:45-7:45 a.m.
Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place overall male and female finishers and medals will be presented to the top 3 finishers (male & female) in each of 13 age groups. Trophies will also go to the first male and female Walnut finishers. Walkers are encouraged to participate. Bib chip timing, professional road race scoring team, and an accurately measured course will be in place.
This race typically has approximately 300-400 participants. Everyone is invited to join in the event’s 10th year of raising money to support ALS research. Over the past nine years, the Walnut Run/Walk has raised $82,000. Due to COVID, event organizers will strive to make this a safe racing environment for all participants.
