Real estate taxes due Oct. 16

OTTAWA – James L. Spelich, LaSalle County Treasurer, has set the final timeline for payment of real estate taxes.

Certified letters will be mailed by Oct. 16, 2020. If your taxes are not paid as of Friday, Oct. 16, 2020, you will receive a certified letter.

The drop box will be closed on Oct. 30 at 4 p.m.

Personal checks are no longer accepted. Only certified funds, cashier’s check, money order or cash will be accepted in the office.

A $10 certified letter fee is added to any payments received in the Treasurer’s office after Oct. 16. Note that the interest changes after the fourth and 15th of each month. Call for the amount due or refer to your tax bill.

The last day to pay before your name is published in the newspaper is Oct. 23, 2020. The week of Oct. 26, all unpaid taxes will be published in local newspapers.

The credit card option will end on Nov. 16. The last day to pay your tax bill before it is sold at a tax sale is Nov. 17, 2020. Payments will be accepted until 4:30 p.m. on that date. No payments will be accepted after that date. All unpaid taxes will be sold on Nov. 18, 2020.
