MENDOTA - Randall K. Stouffer, 71, of Mendota passed away Feb. 2, 2021 in his home, having been diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia just 18 days prior.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 5 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Masks are required and social distancing is encouraged.

Randall was born June 25, 1949 in Mendota to Dale and Irene (Leisure) Stouffer of LaMoille. He married Margo Ainger on July 18, 1970 in Beloit, Wis. after the couple met while Randall was based with Hulcher Emergency Railroad Services.

Survivors include his wife of Mendota; one daughter, Randi (Sean Morais) Stouffer of McKinney, Texas; one son, Brian (Sherri) Stouffer and two granddaughters, Eva and Ivy, all of Madison, Wis.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Randall was a diesel mechanic by trade, a tinkerer by hobby, who loved creating something from nothing. He enjoyed windsurfing when the wind was just right. Lake Sule in Rochelle gave him hours of pleasure. He was a lifelong investigator, finding treasures along the road, along curbs and places the couple walked and visited. He would stop in the road to check if a shiny piece of junk was worth taking home, checking if a piece of paper found in curbs and parks was of any importance and his most fun discoveries were pennies to the several $20 bills he found on his daily walks. The family encourages those that wish to celebrate Randy's life to please drop a dollar or two somewhere for someone else to experience the joy of finding money unexpectedly.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Online condolences may be left at www.merrittfh.com.
