PAW PAW - Plans for sidewalk replacement were among the items of business discussed at the Village of Paw Paw board meeting on March 5. Work is expected to begin when weather permits.

Jeff Broadbent of Algonquin Liberty Power (ALP) attended the meeting to answer any questions regarding the wind turbine project, Shady Oakes II, to be installed south of Chicago Road and east of Interstate 39. Broadbent said ALP will donate $50,000 through a Community Benefit Agreement and $25,000 annually for the duration of the turbines.

The board also learned that the Wyoming Indians 4-H Club has expressed interest in contributing something for improving the Community Center. The board took their offer under consideration and will discuss what would be most beneficial.

In other business:

  • Village employees will monitor derelict/non-tagged/non-working vehicles and notices will be given out.
  • The board passed a resolution approving of the use of extraterritorial land within 1.5 miles of the Paw Paw village limits.

Anyone with questions or concerns regarding the village may call (815) 627-2351.
