MENDOTA - Michael J. Carlson, 72, of Mendota, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 6, 2021 in his home.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. Private burial will be at Lawnridge Cemetery, Rochelle.

Michael was born March 11, 1949 in Rochelle to Clarence and Mildred (Miller) Carlson.

Survivors include his daughter, Tonya Carlson of Oregon; son, Josh (Beth) Carlson of Wheaton; brother, Eugene (Janice) Carlson of Holcumb; four grandchildren, Skylar Carlson, Devin Carlson, Adam Carlson and Danielle Carlson; three nephews, Mark Carlson of Arizona, Brett (Deb) Carlson of Holcomb and Bradley Carlson of Missouri; grand-niece, Layla Carlson of Missouri; and his cat, Hippy.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Patrick Carlson.

Mike was a graduate of Rochelle High School and served in the U.S. Marines. He worked as a welder for Caterpillar in Aurora for over 30 years. He was a good-spirited person concerned about the well-being of everyone. Peace and love to all.
