MENDOTA – The Interact Clubs and FFA from Mendota High School are hosting a Tree-Plenish event. Tree-Plenish helps students plant trees to offset the amount of paper used in the school. The students’ goal this year is 200 trees, which will offset 2 million pieces of paper used at school each year.
By using this website – http://www.treeplenishportal.com/ – people can go online and order a tree. Each tree costs $5. The club is collecting donations to offset the $5 cost so hopefully the day of the event the students can give people back their money.
"We are really excited to bring our community together for such a great cause after such a long time apart,” said Maya Martin, Interact President.
The Interact Club is the high school portion of the Rotary Club of Mendota with over 30 members. It is a thriving service organization run by students. Alisa Stewart, Mendota High School science teacher, sponsors the club.
"You can't imagine how fortunate we are in Mendota to have so many kids willing to give back to the community,” stated Stewart.
