Mendota SCF Food Contest winners get creative with corn


MENDOTA - The 2021 Sweet Corn Festival Food Contest winners have been announced by the Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce. Sponsored by Nightengale’s Thrift Shop, the contest included several categories, each of which required using corn as a main ingredient.

The 15th Annual Food Contest winners include:

Grand Prize: Kristi Carroll - Salt Carmel Sweet Corn Ice Cream; Runner Up: Margaret Schlesinger- Entirely too Rich Cornbread.

Best Presentation: Robin Tobin – Mexican Corn.

Most Creative: Amanda Coss- Sweet Corn Custard Pie with Corn and Ginger Lemonade.

Queen’s Choice: Tracy Cooper- Crack Corn & Chicken Casserole; Honorable Mention: Harrison Coss- Sweet Corn Glass.
