Mendota Elks announces February Teen of the Month


MENDOTA - The Mendota Elks has announced their February Teen of the Month, Abigail Pence.

Abigail, a senior at Princeton High School, is the daughter of Patrick Pence and Jodi Debo. She is currently 7th in her class. She has been on the high honor roll every year and in National Honor Society since junior year.

Abigail was in volleyball her freshman and sophomore years and was a team co-captain and earned the MVP award both years. She also played softball freshman year and earned the Softball Team Spirit Award.

Abigail has been the president of her class since freshman year. She has been in Student Council all four years serving as vice-president junior year and president senior year. She was in Spanish Club freshman through junior years, was the Blackhawk Association of Student Council vice-president junior and senior years, was in Year One and Interact Club as a junior and senior, and was president of Interact Club senior year. She was on the Prom Committee junior year and was in chorus since sophomore year.

Abigail was a recipient of the Daughters of American Revolution Good Citizens Award. She volunteered at the YoungLife Banquet, Logan Junior High SRC Volleyball Tournament and the Princeton Public Library Science Night freshman year. As a sophomore, she volunteered at the PHS concession stands and assisted with prom in 2019. She volunteered at Hornbaker Gardens as a junior, helped elderly women junior and senior years, and as a senior, helped the Rotary Club with some fundraising.

Some of Abigail’s many hobbies include volleyball, working out at the gym, reading personal development books, photography, videography and writing. She is currently working on a 365 Day Motivational Desk Calendar because she enjoys motivating people.
