LA SALLE - The LaSalle Library will be one of many Illinois libraries partnering to host lawyer and author Gary Ginsberg on Monday, Sept. 13 at 7 p.m. Ginsberg will discuss via webinar his book, “First Friends: The Powerful, Unsung (and Unelected) People Who Shaped Our Presidents.”

“First Friends” examines White House history as told through the stories of the best friends and closest confidants of American presidents such as Abraham Lincoln and his friend Joshua Speed, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Daisy Suckley, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, and Bill Clinton and Vernon Jordan. This book is an engaging look into the lives of commanders-in-chief and how their presidencies were shaped by those they held most dear.

In this virtual program, Ginsberg provides insights into the lives of the men who held the most powerful political office in the world by looking at the friends on whom they relied. The program is free and open to the public. Register online at https://bit.ly/3s58OaH.

Those who wish to purchase “First Friends” may do so through Prairie Fox Books in Ottawa, where they will save 20 percent off the cover price and receive a signed bookplate, while supplies last. Interested individuals can visit the bookstore in person, order by phone, or shop online using coupon code GINSBERG at checkout.
