A growing portion of the population in Bureau, Carroll, Jo Daviess, LaSalle, Lee, Ogle, Putnam and Whiteside counties is reaching retirement age and data show that there is not a population of younger workers in the area to take over their positions.
This age re-distribution cycle will have a dramatic impact on workforce in the Northwest Central Illinois Region for years to come. To address this issue, Business Employment Skills Team, Inc. (BEST, Inc.), on behalf of NCI Works, has undertaken a new initiative to help employers expand their labor force by employing individuals in typically underutilized populations. To best meet the needs of companies in the region, BEST, Inc. is seeking input from individuals involved in the hiring process in the region’s companies in the following fields:
Advanced Manufacturing, Agriculture, Construction, Education, Energy Production, Food Processing, Government, Healthcare, Logistics/Transportation, Retail, Services and Tourism/Recreation.
The BEST, Inc. Targeted Population Employer Survey is available online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BESTinc.
The survey is intended to help BEST, Inc. determine how to adapt its services to link underrepresented populations with appropriate job opportunities in the region. It will be open through 7 p.m. on Oct. 22.
