MENDOTA – Lisa A. Thompson, 56, of Mendota, passed away Dec. 26, 2023, in her home after a brief illness.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A celebration of life will take place on Lisa's birthday, May 4, 2024. Details will follow at a later date. Wasmer Funeral Home is privileged to assist the family.

Lisa was born May 4, 1967, in Mendota to James and Sylvia (Phalen) Hessenberger. She attended Mendota schools and graduated in 1985 from Mendota High School. In 1996 she married the love of her life, Brandon Thompson at Snyder's Grove Park, Mendota.

Lisa will be forever missed by her children, Maryjane (Morgan Cormier) Thompson of Chicago, Brandon Thompson of Mendota, Henry Thompson of Mendota, and Laurali Thompson of Mendota; her partner, Mike Davis of Mendota; two brothers, John (Linda) Hessenberger of Mendota and Jeff (Donna) Hessenberger of Neosho, Wis., and two sisters, Denise (Leo) Hochstatter of Mendota and Nicole (Michael) O'Donnell of Mendota.

She was preceded in the death by her husband Brandon on June 6, 2012, her parents, and maternal and paternal grandparents.

Lisa was a self-taught artist and did several installations in the Mendota area, including murals at Northbrook and Blackstone schools, and the vintage Bull Durham mural in downtown Mendota. She was also creative in the yard and enjoyed gardening both flowers and vegetables.
