DIXON - Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and to remain consistent with county government operational changes at the New Courts Services Building, Lee County is modifying operations at the Old Courthouse, effective March 17.

To better protect the public and county employees, the Old Courthouse will be closed to the public. Essential business will continue to be conducted by a limited staff. There are many other ways in which both essential and non-essential business can be conducted electronically, by telephone or mail, thus conforming to the “social-distancing” recommendation by our Health Department Director Cathy Ferguson-Allen. 

Signs will be posted on the south (main) entry door to the Old Courthouse, as well as the county’s website, with department names and associated contact numbers for the convenience of the public. This new procedure will remain in effect until the risk of exposure decreases. 

Lee County Sheriff John Simonton is asking for everyone’s cooperation during this unique time. The environment is rapidly changing, so it is important that citizens follow the advice of their local, regional, state and national health care professionals. While this safety challenge is global in nature, all our daily lives will be disrupted and impacted. Law enforcement will continue to work around the clock with partners in the health care sector and in coordination with elected officials to implement policies that support the health and safety of the public.
