MENDOTA - Laurel A. Mitchell, 72, of Mendota, passed away Nov. 26, 2021 at her home.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota. There will be no service. Cremation rites will follow and private burial will be held at Dewey-Worsley Cemetery.

Laurel was born July 2, 1949 in Mendota to Everett “Sandy” and Ruth (Neff) Mitchell.

Survivors include her son, Beau (Abby) Fancher of Mendota; one grandson, Landon Fancher; a nephew, Tim (Mel) Schultz; two nieces, Terri (Jerry) Conner and Traci Piper; several great-nieces and nephews; her caregiver, Julie Hamel; the father of her son, Bill Fancher; and her dog Bailey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Linda Schultz; and her brother-in-law, Raymond Schultz.

Laurel was a 1967 graduate of Mendota High School. She was employed as a nurse at Mendota Community Hospital for 11 years, at Mendota Lutheran Home and Heritage Health for 13 years and also worked for Dr. Jared Rogers and Dr. David Scholl’s office for five years. She was in the ladies bowling league at the Mendota Elks Club. She loved dogs and spending time visiting with family and friends.
