OTTAWA – James L. Spelich, LaSalle County Treasurer, announced that if property taxes are not paid as of Sept. 24, those persons will receive a certified letter.

A $10 certified letter fee is added to any payments received in the Treasurer’s officer after Sept. 24. Please note that the interest changes after the first of each month. For the amount due, call the Treasurer’s office at (815) 434-8219 or refer to your tax bill.

The last day to pay before your name is published in the paper is Friday, Oct. 8. That is also the last day the Treasurer’s office will accept personal checks. After Oct. 8, only certified funds, cashier’s check, money order, credit card or cash will be accepted in the office. Individuals may also pay by credit card online.

The week of Oct. 11, all unpaid taxes will be published in local newspapers.

On Saturday, Nov. 6, the credit card option will end.

The drop box will be closed on Monday, Nov. 8 at 8 a.m.

Also, Nov. 8 is the last day to pay your taxes before they are sold at the tax sale. Payments will be accepted in the Treasurer’s office until 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 8. No payments will be accepted after that date. All unpaid taxes will be sold Tuesday, Nov. 9.
