LOVELAND, Colo. - Kathryn F. Stevens, 94, of Loveland, Colo., formerly of Bureau County, passed away June 18, 2021 in her home surrounded by loved ones.

LOVELAND, Colo. - Kathryn F. Stevens, 94, of Loveland, Colo., formerly of Bureau County, passed away June 18, 2021 in her home surrounded by loved ones.

Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 10 at Calvary Cemetery in Arlington officiated by Father Thaddeus Tran.

Kathryn was born July 4, 1926 in Westfield Township, Bureau County to Joseph D. and Frances A. (Klein) Flanagan. She married John A. Stevens in 1952 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Arlington, and they raised their family in Aurora. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Thomas (Margit) Stevens and their children, Andrew, Sarah and Nathaniel Stevens, all of Salinas, Calif.; one daughter, Paula (Jerrold Entzi) Hogle and their children, Hannah Elyse Hogle (Daniel Anchondo-Wegener) and Mark Andru “Dru” Hogle, all of Loveland, Colo.; one brother, Daniel (Barbara) Flanagan of Mendota; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Edmund, Raymond and James Flanagan; and a son-in-law, Mark Allen Hogle.

Kay was raised in Bureau County until she was 14 when she went away to boarding school. She graduated from St. Mary’s Girls Academy in Nauvoo with the class of 1944. Following graduation, she lived in Chicago and worked at Carson Pierre Scott and the Chicago Tribune. After moving to Aurora, she was employed as a school bus driver for Rich Lee Vans for 18 years and also worked for the Beacon News for 10 years as a district manager in the Oswego/Bristol area. At the age of 61, she graduated from Morton College Cicero in 1988 with a degree in physical therapy assistance. Following a relocation to Loveland, Colo., she was employed as a physical therapy assistant by Poudre Valley Hospital in Ft. Collins for 14 years until she retired. After retirement, she was employed for two years by Thompson School District Nutrition Services as a lunch lady at Ferguson High School in Loveland, Colo. She was a parishioner at St. Johns Catholic Church in Loveland since 1989 and was a member of many clubs and groups throughout her lifetime and held many interests. Kay had a love for life, travel and will always be remembered for her big, bright smile and quick-witted one-liners. She was a friend to everyone she met and a matriarch to many.
