HOFFMAN ESTATES - Janis Ryan, 81, of Hoffman Estates, formerly of Mendota, passed away Jan. 2, 2022.

Mass of Christian burial will be at noon on Saturday, Jan. 8 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Mendota. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 until 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 8 at the Wasmer Funeral Home, Mendota.

Janis was born Sept. 8, 1940 in Mendota to Lloyd and Irene (Klein) Cotton.

She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Jennifer Ryan of La Canada, Calif.; three sons, John (Christine) Ryan of Mesa, Ariz., Jeff (Rosa) Ryan of Carol Stream, and Tim Ryan of Chicago; six grandchildren, Cassidy Ryan, Kylie Fletcher, Brody Ryan, Cesar Diaz, Stephen Diaz and Julia Olvera Ryan; two sisters, Mary (Dwight) Stone of Germantown Hills and Carol Sheridan of Rockford; two brothers, Robert Cotton of Mendota and Dale Cotton of Mendota.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Donna Barbier and Norma Wright; and one brother, Dean Cotton.

Janis attended Mendota High School graduating in 1958. She studied special education at Northern Illinois University. During her work career, she was a self-employed businesswoman and owner of Directional Strategies, Inc. She loved gardening and flowers and was the most amazing, creative and loving mother and grandmother.
