MENDOTA – The snowy January continued over the past weekend when a storm dumped between four and five inches on top of what was already on the ground in the Mendota area. The heavy, wet snow provided ideal conditions for snowman-building, like this one sporting an Illinois Fighting Illini stocking hat on Monroe Street.

What has been a typical winter so far temperature-wise is about to change as the thermometer will fall into the teens for highs Friday and Saturday, and then single-digit highs Sunday and into next week. Lows are expected to be below zero for four straight days.
