MENDOTA - Girl Scouts of Northern Illinois (GSNI) will host the organization’s 16th Annual Thin Mint Sprint virtually from Sept. 1-30. Adults and school-age children can choose from a 2-mile walk, 2-mile competitive race, or 8K race. Participants will choose their ideal course and complete their race or walk anytime in September. A virtual leader board will track runner time through the end of the race! Online registration is open at www.runsignup.com/gsnitms.

The 2-mile walk is just $10. Both the 2-mile competitive race and 8K are $20. Participants will receive a race bib and event medal. Event T-shirts are available for an additional $15 per tech shirt or $10 per cotton shirt. Sizes XXL and up include an additional fee.

The event will also feature a Faster than Fiona Challenge, exclusive to all girl members of Girl Scouts. This unique challenge began Sept. 1 and can be completed any time before Sept. 30. Girl Scouts will choose a 2-mile course and then run or walk the course while timing themselves trying to beat the time of GSNI CEO, Fiona Cummings. All participants will be invited to a virtual meet-and-greet with Fiona in October, and girls who are faster than Fiona will also receive a special Girl Scout patch. Participation cost is $15 with T-shirts available for an additional $15 per tech shirt or $10 per cotton shirt.

Proceeds from the event support GSNI in their efforts to provide amazing experiences and opportunities for girls to learn valuable life skills, try new things, all while cultivating the character to make a difference in the world.

Thin Mint Sprint event sponsors include MembersAlliance Credit Union, GSNI Volunteer Board of Directors, Physicians Immediate Care, Mark and Carol Ackerman, Network Craze, Woodward, Ron Coletta – AT&T, Simply Computer Solutions, WREX-TV, and B103.
