Jenkins receives doctorate
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Matthew T. Jenkins, a 1997 graduate of Earlville High School, received a doctorate degree from Haslam School of Business, University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn. during a hooding ceremony on May 10.
Jenkins earned his degree in business administration with concentration in logistics and supply chain management. He has accepted a position as a professor at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga. Jenkins will relocate to Georgia this month with his wife, Andrea, and daughter, Norah, and begin teaching in August. He is the son of Chuck and Sheila Jenkins of Earlville.
Augustana holds commencement
ROCK ISLAND – Two local students, Emily Grace of Earlville and Samuel Dunklau of Paw Paw, took part in Augustana College’s spring commencement ceremony on May 21. Dr.
Grace, who studied Social Welfare and Public Health, graduated cum laude and Dunklau, who studied Multimedia Journalism and Mass Communication and Creative Writing, graduated summa cum laude.
Al Bowman, president emeritus of Illinois State University, delivered the commencement address.
Eastern announces dean’s list & graduates
CHARLESTON - Kersten Kidd of Paw Paw is among the students included on Eastern Illinois University’s spring dean’s list. To be recognized on the dean’s list, students must achieve a GPA of 3.80 to 4.0 (on a 4.0 scale) while completing a minimum of 12 graded semester hours.
A communication disorders major, Kidd graduated with the class of 2017, earning a Bachelor of Science degree.
Rockford University holds commencement
ROCKFORD – Three local students, Jose Arteaga and Trae Blumhorst of Mendota and Carl Biederstedt of Sublette, earned degrees during Rockford University’s 163rd graduation on May 13. They were among 352 students from 18 states and six countries to graduate.
Arteaga and Blumhorst both received Bachelor of Science degrees and Biederstedt received a Master of Arts in Teaching degree.
Rockford University is a four-year, co-educational institution founded in 1847 that offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in traditional liberal arts and professional fields.
