MENDOTA - Putnam County Community Center is offering a free virtual class on “Dining Out without Filling Out” presented by Illinois Extension Nutrition & Wellness Educator, Susan Glassman. The class will take place on Friday, Nov. 6.

These days, portions at restaurants are quite a bit larger than they were several years ago. One entrée can equal three or four servings. Studies show that people tend to eat more when they are served more food. Is it possible to order-in or dine-out and still practice a healthy lifestyle? This program will discuss the clues to finding healthy choices when looking at a menu, how to spot the extra calories, and how to estimate portion sizes with Extension’s handy guide. Attendees will discover how to enjoy ordering-out or dining-out for a delicious, nutritious meal without any dishes to wash.

Dining Out without Filling Out will take place from 10:30-11:15 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 6. Register online at https://go.illinois.edu/dineout or call (815) 224-0889. After registration, you will receive the Zoom meeting link to save in your calendar. The day of the class click on the Zoom link and watch the virtual class from the comfort of your own home. The program is free, available to all and includes helpful tips and a handout.
