MENDOTA – The Mendota City Council approved several requests at its May 17 regular meeting.

Alderman Jim Fitzpatrick presented a request from Kristin Manfredini for the use of Snyder’s Grove for a wedding on Oct. 2, which was agreed upon by the council.

Alderman John Hessenberger discussed two zoning variance requests, both of which were approved. One was from the homeowner at 401 Eighth St. and the other was from the homeowner at 1006 Chicago St.

Mayor David Boelk presented his Fiscal Year 22 mayoral appointments and council members gave their approval.

A resident living in the 1400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue spoke to the council about receiving a notice from the city that he will have to remove a tent/carport that he erected at his residence. The notice was for removal by May 25. There is a city ordinance against having carports.

Mayor Boelk informed the man that the city will postpone the May 25 deadline. He said the code enforcement officer will be consulted and the city will contact the man after that.

The next regular meeting of the Mendota City Council will be Monday, June 7 at 5:30 p.m.
