MENDOTA - Charles A. “Charlie” Dumas, 80 of Mendota, formerly of Woodhaven and Chicago, passed away July 2, 2021 at Heritage Health, Mendota.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 8 at the Wasmer Funeral Home. Rev. Susan Presley will officiate, and burial will take place immediately following at Restland Cemetery.

Charlie was born Dec. 10, 1940 in Europa, Miss. to Charles and Ora Lee (Yates) Dumas. He married Melody Moe on Sept. 25, 1981 in Chicago. She preceded him in death on Feb. 26, 2020.

Survivors include one step daughter, Linda (Randy) Scott of Sandwich; one daughter, Tuveda Dumas of Chicago; and five sisters, Joann Eskridge of Park Forest, Ruby Dumas of South Haven, Miss., Paula Yates of Duck Hill, Miss., Hester Maxine Snow of Chicago, and Glinda Gail Snow of Chicago.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters, Mary and Brenda; and one brother, Eli.

For many years, Charlie was a baker at Simon Brothers Bakeries in Chicago. He was a factory warehouse supervisor for ACCO Warehouse. After retiring to Woodhaven, he ran “Charlie’s Lawn Service.”
