MENDOTA – The Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce has named its “Shop Local & Win” promotion winners for 2021. The promotion was held from Nov. 20 through Dec. 31 at participating Mendota area businesses.
The grand prize winner was Mary Lou Flahive of Mendota. First place went to Neil Elston of Mendota, second place was won by John Erhardt of Mendota and third place went to Lisa Avery of Mendota.
The grand prize included over $1,000 in merchandise and gift cards from participating businesses. The first-, second- and third-place winners each received gift baskets worth over $300 in merchandise and gifts.
There were also 10 additional consolation winners that each received $20 in Chamber gift certificates. They were Andrew Belan, Brenda Deery, Neil Elston, Linda Erlenborn, Mary Lou Flahive, Barb Hartley, Renee Lee, Joanne McNally, Sara Schafer and Deb Simkins.
For every $10 spent in a participating business, players received one sticker. In order to qualify for the prizes, a player had to turn in a full card and each card had to have stickers from at least five of the participating businesses.
There were 49 area businesses that participated in the promotion to encourage people to shop locally during the holiday season. The Mendota Area Chamber of Commerce appreciates all of the participating businesses and everyone that took part in the promotion.
