Carl’s Quiz 11-18

The Eiffel Tower was originally intended for what city?

The answer to last week’s quiz is: On Nov. 10, 1903, Mary Anderson received a patent for her “window cleaning device for electric cars and other vehicles to remove snow, ice or sleet from the window” - now known as windshield wipers. Anderson tried to sell the idea but was told the device had no practical value and was not worth any money. A decade later, mechanical windshield wipers became standard equipment in passenger cars but Anderson never profited from the invention because her patent had expired before she could find anyone willing to use her idea.
