UTICA - A rainy day at Starved Rock did not stop the LaSalle County 4-H Federation Youth Leadership Club from offering a hiking and backpack project day. Youth gathered in Starved Rock Lodge to learn important tips on preparing for a hike, proper backpack needs, and preparing first aid kits in addition to enjoying a boxed lunch. Participants also enjoyed a scavenger hunt based on Starved Rock history trivia challenges.
Skills such as preparing a first aid kit were shared with Federation members. (Photo contributed)
Following the project presentations, Federation officers and delegates gathered for a business meeting to discuss planning of activities and community service ideas for the 2021-2022 4-H year. The Federation sponsors a variety of workshops and activities for both 4-H and non-4-H members.
Federation is the banding together of youth from different clubs into one representative group. Federation members focus on Leadership Training, Decision Making, County or Unit Event Planning, and Socialization.
