Memorial Day program set for May 31

MENDOTA – The Mendota Memorial Day program will be held Monday, May 31 at 10:30 a.m. at Restland Cemetery Memorial Gardens.

The Veterans’ Memorial Council, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4079, its Auxiliary and American Legion Post 540 will be participating.

These organizations welcome everyone to this service for the purpose of honoring and remembering all veterans resting on domestic or foreign soil for their commitment and unselfish contribution to our present way of life with liberty and freedom for all.

The program is as follows:

  • Opening address by master of ceremonies Bill Hunt, U.S. Navy Veteran
  • Presentation of colors/raising of the flag by Veterans’ Memorial Council
  • National Anthem by Mendota Alumni Band
  • Invocation by Associate Pastor Jay Miller of Victory Baptist Church in Mendota, U.S. Navy Veteran
  • Musical selection by Mendota Alumni Band
  • Roll call of deceased Veterans since last Memorial Day by Harold Olsen
  • Laying of the wreaths by VFW Post 4079 Auxiliary
  • Firing of the volley by Veterans’ Memorial Council
  • Taps by Veterans’ Memorial Council
  • Benediction by Miller
