Two Trojans break the tape in 5-team meet

KEWANEE – The Mendota boys’ track team went up against four other schools in a meet at Kewanee on April 3. The Trojans scored 44 points and finished in fourth place. Kewanee cruised to first place with 156 points, followed by Stark County (73) and Farmington (63). Galva was last with 19 points.

Th Trojans had a pair of first-place finishes. Sebastian Carlos broke the tape in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.81, while Anthony Kelson outlasted his opponents in the 1600-meter run in 4:46.51.

Mendota 2nd place: 4x100m relay (Carlos, Jayden Lesley, Robert Botello, Jamal Lesley), 47.28; 4x400m relay (Komen Denault, Hector Gonzalez, Jamal Lesley, Kelson), 3:56.57; 4x800m relay (Gavin Stevenson, Kelson, Carlos Toribio, Gonzalez), 9:33.91

Mendota 3rd place: Denault, pole vault, 9-0

Mendota 5th place: Spencer Kain, 3200m run, 13:18.48; Jayden Lesley, long jump, 17-6

Mendota 6th place: Jamal Lesley, 100m dash, 12.17; Stevenson, 1600m run, 5:23.24; Botello, long jump, 17-4.5
