SUBLETTE — The Village of Sublette will be purchasing a new automatic hand sanitizer machine and a sprayer that can sanitize rooms, tables and chairs after being in use.

The Sublette Village Board met during its regular meeting on Nov. 9. All board members were present except for Trustee Jeff Myers.

Trustee Julie Kessel got a quote from Dixon Paint for the sprayer. She told the board the cost is $620 and includes the sprayer and five-gallon bucket of sanitizer. The board approved the purchase of the sprayer.

Kessel also found automatic hand sanitizer machines at Staples. She told the board that there were two left available in store.

Acting Village Board President John Stenzel suggested the village purchase one of the automatic hand sanitizers and see if they like it, adding he didn’t think the village needed two at this point.

It was also noted that these automatic hand sanitizers are moveable. The board approved the purchase of one of the automatic hand sanitizer machines and one gallon of sanitizer.

Dispose of Village Property

Earlier in the meeting, Stenzel read the minutes from the village property, EDC and Park committee meeting. He reported that during the committee meeting, Chris Klein from Leffelman and Associates expressed interest in the village property located at 109 W. Main St. The issue of disposing of the village property at 109 W. Main St. was on the agenda for the Nov. 9 meeting.

Village of Sublette Trustee Scott Hanson said given there is an interested local business, he thought the village should proceed with the disposal of the property.

Stenzel agreed, adding that the village is not in the business of owning property. The board approved the motion to dispose of village excess property.

The next step was hiring a realtor. Kessel made a motion to hire Lori Erbes from Erbes Realty, LLC as the village’s realtor for selling 109 W. Main St. The board approved the motion to hire Erbes, and will be holding a committee meeting to discuss price for the property.

Petitions Available

Sublette Village Clerk MacKenzie Belan has prepared packets for those wishing to run for elected office in 2021. Those open positions include three village trustee positions, village clerk, and village president. Election packets must be turned back into the village clerk by Dec. 21. The village will also be looking to appoint a new village treasurer as current treasurer Theresa Wilson will be retiring. The village trustees whose seats are up at the 2021 election include Kessel, Brian Wilson and Robert Bulfer.

In other board news:

• The board agreed to continue to not take rental agreements for 2021 as of this point.
• The board approved the 2020-21 levy at $15,363. In October, the board approved to post the levy.
• The village will be lighting a Christmas tree for the holiday season in downtown Sublette, and local businesses are invited to decorate and put up a Christmas tree like previous years.

The next Sublette Village Board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 14, at the Ellice Dinges Center.
