Mendota to host regional May 16 & 20

MENDOTA – The Mendota girls’ soccer team has earned the number one seed in Sub-Sectional A of the Rock Island Alleman Sectional.

Mendota will be the host of a regional to be played May 16 and May 20. Action will begin on Friday, May 16 with two games. Mendota will battle DePue at 4:30 p.m. and Princeton will take on Oregon at 6:30 p.m.

The two winners will meet for the regional championship at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 20.

The winner of the Mendota Regional will advance to the Rock Island Alleman Sectional to face the winner of the Byron Regional at 5 p.m. Saturday, May 24. The other sectional game will pit champions from the Rockford Christian and Indian Creek regionals at 7 p.m. May 24.

The sectional championship game will be contested at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 28. All sectional games will be played at the Alleman Sports Complex, 1186 43rd Ave., Moline.

Friday, May 16

1 – (1) Mendota vs. (8) DePue [Coop] – 4:30 p.m.

2 – (4) Princeton vs. (5) Oregon – 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday, May 20

3 – Winner Match 1 vs. Winner Match 2 – 5 p.m. (championship)
