MENDOTA – The Mendota High School District 280 Board of Education met in regular session on Oct. 21.
After the Pledge of Allegiance, there was a moment of silence in honor of long-time MHS employee and bookkeeper Deb Phalen, who passed away on Oct. 18.
Principal Joe Masini presented the Student Information and Registration Guide with recommendations as presented by the Curriculum Committee. The board approved the guide.
Masini also provided Parent/Teacher/Student Conference and Professional Development updates.
Superintendent Denise Aughenbaugh presented the second reading and request for approval of IASB PRESS Policy 116, which the board approved.
The IMRF Notice of Appointment of Authorized agent was present and the board approved Lupe Perez as the authorized IMRF agent on behalf of the district.
Also from Aughenbaugh’s report, the board approved the non-certified seniority list as presented and also accepted the superintendent to apply for a FY25 $50,000 school maintenance grant to offset upcoming Health Life Safety repairs.
Following an executive/closed session, the board approved the hiring of Sabrina Stewart as bookkeeper/administrative assistant in the business office.
The next regular meeting of the District 280 Board of Education will be Monday, Nov 18 at 6 p.m.
