WEST BROOKLYN – A 67-year-old Mendota woman died as the result of a two-vehicle collision at Welland Road and Route 251 at 10 p.m. July 26.
Denise Pennington succumbed to her injuries on July 27. The LaSalle County coroner has not released her cause of death.
According to a report from the Lee County Sheriff’s Department, a vehicle driven by Richard Foster, 67, of Mendota, was southbound on Route 251 when he struck a stopped vehicle occupied by Pennington.
Foster was charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, improper lane usage and illegal transportation of alcohol.
The LaSalle County Coroner’s Office, Mendota Fire Department, Troy Grove Fire Department and Mendota Police Department assisted at the scene.
