MENDOTA – Cross country teams from Spring Valley, Princeton, and Amboy joined host school Mendota for a race Sept. 25 at Lake Mendota.

Henry Nichols of Amboy won the 2.96-mile race int a time of 17:45, followed by Princeton’s Augustus Swanson (17:49). Amboy’s Atticus Homer rounded out the top three with a time of 19:37.

Mendota’s top finish belonged to Carlos Toribio (6th, 19:52). Other Trojans competing were Hector Gonzalez (12th,21:22), Ryder Woods (14th, 21:57), Aidan Fisher (19th, 24:16), Spencer Kain (22nd, 24:51), Travis Mumm (24th, 25:59), and Gage Richey (26th, 29:13).

In team scoring, Amboy’s 21 point s led the way, with Hall tallying 50 and Mendota 55.

In the girls’ race, Princeton harriers took the top five finishes led by Ruby Acker (21:07), Payton Frueh (21:24) and Alexandria Waca (23:41).

Mendota was represented by Emily Banks (30:08) and Payton Stavropoulos (32:51).

Princeton was the only team fielding a full girls’ squad.
