KEWANEE – Mendota’s boys’ and girls’ track teams ventured outside for the first time this season and both squads finished fourth in a five-team meet at Kewanee on March 28.

Mendota boys' & girls' track teams venture outside for first time in '24

KEWANEE – Mendota’s boys’ and girls’ track teams ventured outside for the first time this season and both squads finished fourth in a five-team meet at Kewanee on March 28.

The boys scored 39 points with Kewanee winning the meet with 110 points.

Mendota had three first-place finishes. Sebastian Carlos cruised to first in the 400-meter dash in a time of 52.7 and Anthony Kelson claimed the 1600-meter run in 5:06.98. The other top finish went to the 4x400-meter relay team in a time of 3:51.49. Runners were Mason Koch, Aaden Castle, Kelson and Carlos.

Kewanee also landed in first place in the girls’ event with 96 points. Mendota tallied 34 points.

The Lady Trojans had a pair of first-place efforts, both by Mariyah Elam. She won the 100-meter hurdles in 16.97 and the high jump at 4-10.
