LA SALLE - University of Illinois Extension invites area youth to participate in their upcoming “Find Your Spark in the Park” with 4-H. This summer camp hopes to spark interest in 4-H and some of the project areas it has to offer. There is no cost to take part.
This camp is for all youth in grades 3-5 and will be held at Rotary Park in LaSalle from 9-11 a.m., June 7-11. The camp will meet at the large shelter each morning, so look for the University of Illinois orange and blue tent. Advanced registration is required; please call the LaSalle Park District at (815) 223-3755.
This 4-H adventure in the park will allow youth to explore a variety of topics. Animal Science is always popular, so youth will be given the opportunity to learn about and meet live animals. To appreciate our local environment and its species, youth will take a nature walk and explore the park with one of our Master Naturalists. They will create a unique piece of natural art to remember the experience.
No summer camp is complete without fun games. One morning will be dedicated to exercises, games, and learning about sports nutrition. Lastly, aerospace is a topic all youth like to explore. Campers will experience creating and flying a balloon rocket and learning how to make paper airplanes that catch the wind. Join this week of fun and make the first week of summer vacation a blast.
This experience will be outdoors, so all participants are asked to dress appropriately for the weather and wear gym shoes. Masks will be required. A healthy snack and drink will be provided each day.
