PERU - Everyone could use a reusable shopping bag, right? LaSalle County 4-H Federation along with Hy-Vee can help you get one. The 4-H Federation Club has been selected by Hy-Vee in Peru as a beneficiary for the month of May in the Hy-Vee Reusable Bag Program. This is a program that supports local non-profits.

The 4-H Federation Club will receive a $1 donation every time a $2.50 red “My Heart” Reusable Bag is purchased at the Peru store during May, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag.

The Hy-Vee Reusable Bag Program, which launched in November 2019, is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities in which customers live and work. “The 4-H Federation officers are very excited to receive the support of families and community members,” said Toni Pienta, LaSalle County 4-H and Youth Development Coordinator. “This donation program will help to assist the Federation in providing workshops and community service programs.”

4-H youth who are in 8th grade or above may join a Federation Club. Federation is the banding together of youth from different clubs into one representative group. Leadership training, decision making, county or unit event planning, and socialization are the focus of Federation members.
