LaMoille School Board poses question to voters

Virtual public hearing takes place March 18

Posted

LA MOILLE - The LaMoille  C.U.S.D. #303 Board of Education passed a resolution to eliminate the township requirement for all board members. This action allows voters the opportunity to decide during the spring election if they wish to have “at large” school board positions, instead of the current township format.

The reason for this possible change to be placed on the ballot is the difficulty the district has experienced in filling school board positions. Currently there can be no more than three school board members from each township, and this has limited the district’s ability to have a full school board.

The district has had one open seat for almost two years, and the “at large” format would allow the school district a better opportunity to fill all board seats. The LaMoille Board of Education will hold a virtual public hearing at their March 18 board meeting from 6:45 to 7 p.m. to answer questions pertaining to this potential change for the school board election process. A link to this hearing will be on the LaMoille schools’ website at home.lamoilleschools.org.

Anyone with questions regarding this action, please feel free to call the school at (815) 638-2144. As always, the school board’s goal is to continue serving the needs of students and families, creating the best educational opportunities for everyone.
