MENDOTA – It was a successful start to the softball season for the Mendota Lady Trojans as they romped over Plano, 18-1, on March 21 at Strouss Park. The game was called after the top of the fourth because of the 10-run rule.

Mendota’s bats were cooking from the outset as it scored nine runs in the bottom of the first to take command. The Lady Trojans tacked on seven more runs in the second and pushed across two tallies in the third.

Mendota totaled seven hits, with Bailey Baird picking up a pair of singles and Paige Manning ripping a double and driving in two runs. Ava Eddy also had two runs batted in with a single.

Manning got the ball in the circle and allowed just three hits and no earned runs in four innings. She struck out seven and walked one. Mendota benefited from 10 walks issued by two Plano pitchers.
