The Mendota junior varsity softball team walloped Plano, 30-10, on March 31 at Plano. The game was halted after four innings by the 10-run rule.
Mendota scored 13 runs in the top of the first inning. The Lady Trojans added four runs in the second, six in the third and seven in the fourth frame.
Mendota totaled 13 hits, with Alexis Nave (two singles, double, five RBI), Grace Schlesinger (three singles, four RBI) and Kenzi Fultz (three singles, three RBI) leading the attack. Hayley Diaz added a pair of singles and Leah Schwemlein stroked a double and drove in two. Abby Magallanes had three runs batted in and Gisselle Gonzalez drove in two.
Diaz was the winning pitcher, allowed three hits, walking 10 and striking out eight.

Mendota squeaked out an 8-7 win over Rochelle on April 3 at the MHS field.
Mendota scored six runs in the bottom of the first and Rochelle came back with six tallied in the top of the second. The Lady Trojans pushed across two runs in the second and held Rochelle to one in the third to pull out the victory.
Mendota had four hits in the contest – singles by Karissa Freeman, Hayley Diaz, Ari Figueroa (two RBI) and Fultz.
Freeman was the winning pitcher.
