He was born on March 18, 1976, in Mendota, the son of John F. and Bertha Maxine (McNeely) Marks. He married the former Tennille Meyer on Aug. 20, 2004, in Dixon.

Survivors include his wife, Tennille; his daughter, Alex (Alex) Bach of Woodstock; his sons, Braxten and Brody at home; his father, John F. (Patsy) Marks of Earlville; his mother, Bertha Maxine (Robert) Stanford of Earlville; his sister, Kris (Jim) Hubly of Kankakee; his brothers, Cody Marks (Ashley Folty) of Paw Paw and Casey (Sarah) Marks of Sublette; several nieces and nephews; and surrogate grandfather, Reg Dahlstrom of Rock Falls.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John R. (Loeta) Marks, Grace Johnson, Charles and Florence Kuebel.

John graduated from Earlville High School where he was active in basketball, baseball and soccer. John was a correction officer at the DOC in Dixon. He enjoyed working part time with local farmers. As his children attended East Coloma Grade school, John helped coach his sons in baseball and basketball. He was always helping out his neighbors on various projects, be it lawn work or some maintenance project. He followed his beloved St Louis Cardinals and was an avid sports enthusiast.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the family.

We also would like to encourage everyone to wear their favorite local sports team apparel, such as Rock Falls Rockets and East Coloma Bulldogs.
