PERU – The public is invited to a free exhibit opening and gallery showing of works of art from wood, metal and other organic materials by local artisans Frank Kobilsek and Arica DeArcos. The event will take place on Friday, March 13 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the west wing of the Westclox building on U.S. Route 6 in Peru.

Kobilsek, a word turner since 2004, will display a new collection of functional and wall art, which he hand-crafts from a variety of woods. His work includes bowls, platters, bottle openers and bottle stoppers, pendants and other jewelry. His gallery showing will be held in the North Central Illinois (NCI) ARTworks Center.

DeArcos, a gemologist and artist, will display jewelry and art pieces made of plants, wood, bone and antlers in an exhibit titled “Kingdom” that explores the fragility of man’s relationships with other living creatures. The exhibit will be in the Music Suite 408 Paintbox Gallery.

The gallery showing and exhibit are part of a series of displays of art created by artists throughout the region sponsored by NCI ARTworks and Music Suite 408. This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council.

The family-friendly events are offered free of charge. Light refreshments will be served and free-will offerings will be accepted. Parking is available in the west parking lot of the historic Westclox building and entrance is through the white door.
