Willis earns academic honor at Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. – Elizabeth Willis from Mendota earned CCIW Winter All-Academic honors.

The CCIW Academic All-Conference list comprises of those individuals that achieved an overall grade-point average of 3.30 or above and lettered in their respective sport, and have served at least one year in residency at their respective school.

Willis was one of 79 Carthage College student athletes selected. The women's track and field team led the way with 18 selections, followed by the men's track and field and women's swimming programs with 17 each. Men's swimming earned 11 conference all-academic spots, with both the men's and women's basketball teams earning eight.

The Jack Swartz Academic Award for the winter season went to senior guard Sammie Woodward from women's basketball, and junior sprinter Brendan Farmer from men's track and field.

Carthage earned the second-most selections among the CCIW schools, with Wheaton leading the way at 95, and Augustana just behind the Red Men and Lady Reds at 62.

U of I graduates

URBANA-CHAMPAIGN - James Sensenbrenner of Earlville graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in December.

Sensenbrenner earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences Geography and Geographic Information Science. 

U of I dean’s list

URBANA-CHAMPAIGN - Alyssa Leal of Earlville has been named to the University of Illinois dean’s list for the fall 2019 semester. Leal is majoring in Interdisciplinary Health Science.
