MENDOTA – The Mendota City Council acted on an employee resignation and heard about ending dates for city services at its Nov. 1 regular meeting.

Mayor David Boelk informed the council members of a letters of resignation he received from Toby Fitzgerald, chief operator at the city sewer plant. The council accepted Fitzgerald’s resignation. His last day on the job will be Nov. 14.

In Aldermanic reports, Jim Fitzpatrick announced dates for two annual services provided by the city. He said the city incinerator-burn pit will tentatively close for the season on Monday, Nov. 29 and the leaf vacuum program will tentatively end on the same day, Nov. 29.

Kyle Kim presented an ordinance in regard to an updated Exhibit A to the Illinois Valley Regional Dispatch intergovernmental agreement, which was approved by the council. Kim said it essentially means that IVRD will be raising the price of providing services to the city.

In other news, the city will conduct its annual fire hydrant flushing activities Nov. 8-24. The work will be performed between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Fire hydrant flushing is an important part of the Mendota Water Department’s maintenance program of the water distribution system. Any questions regarding this program should be directed to the Water Department by calling 815-539-6307.

The next regular meeting of the Mendota City Council will be Monday, Nov. 15 at 5:30 p.m.
