LA SALLE - Director Caryn Brown has announced audition dates for the “Stage 212 Youth Showcase,” a production spotlighting the talented young people of the Illinois Valley. Try outs will be held Wednesday, July 14 and Friday, July 16 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the theater, 700 First St., La Salle.
Brown will cast up to 40 youth, ranging in age from entering 4th grade to entering 12th grade in the fall of 2021, for roles in a variety of production numbers featuring singing, dancing, skits and more.
Auditions will be conducted on a sign-up basis only. Those wishing to audition must go to the website at stage212.org and click on the link to sign up for a time and to fill out an audition form. Audition sign up deadline is Tuesday, July 13 at midnight.
Those auditioning should come prepared with a 30-second musical selection from a musical, movie musical, or Disney movie to be sung a cappella or with their own accompaniment. Auditioners may also recite a monologue, play a musical instrument or perform a dance. Masking and social distancing protocols will be observed during the audition process. “Stage 212 Youth Showcase” will be presented Sept. 16-18 at 7 p.m. with a matinee performance Sept. 19 at 2 p.m. A matinee performance may be added Sept. 18 pending ticket sales. Stage 212 auditions are open to all regardless of prior theatrical experience.
