TRIUMPH – The 2021-22 season of open microphone Bluegrass, Country and Gospel music jam sessions will commence on Saturday, Oct. 9 at the Ophir Community Building in Triumph. All acoustic music begins at 6 p.m. and continues until 10 p.m. Performers change every 15 minutes to allow for many different styles of entertainment.

The Northern Illinois Bluegrass Association (NIBA) and Tom Gerber, in conjunction with the Ophir Community Building (OCB) Board of Managers, will begin season 20. The jams will be held in Triumph on the second Saturday of each month, October through May, provided government regulations regarding COVID-19 do not change.

The OCB has been completely redecorated over the past year. Some generous donations have allowed the OCB Board to install new stage curtains and do some extensive painting on both floors. Come see these changes, jam or just listen to the music.

No alcohol or smoking is allowed. Masks and social distancing are requested but not required. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. Donations are accepted for the refreshments and all proceeds are used for maintenance and repair of the Ophir Community Building.

To reserve a spot as a participant in a jam session, call Gerber at (815) 414-8081 or show up early to sign up for one. For general information, contact Jay Allen of the OCB at (815) 488-9154.

The OCB is located at 3907 E. 752nd Road, Triumph (2 miles east of I-39 on U.S. Route 52, then 2 miles north).
