LA SALLE - The LaSalle Public Library will virtually host London-based bestselling author Kate Moore in partnership with Reddick Public Library and Prairie Fox Books for a discussion on her newest book, “The Woman They Could Not Silence.” Moore’s latest work charts the incredible true story of Elizabeth Packard, a 19th-century housewife from Illinois who was committed to an asylum for daring to defy her husband and whose courageous fight for justice changed the world.
Moore, who also wrote “Radium Girls” in 2017, will share her research journey and the inspiration behind her newest book and will stun the virtual audience with alarming facts about this piece of little-known Illinois history – facts that still resonate powerfully today.
This free program will be held on Saturday, June 26 at 2 p.m. The discussion is open to the public but requires registration. To register online, please go to https://bit.ly/3nKP9KX.
“The Woman They Could Not Silence” is available to purchase at Prairie Fox Books in Ottawa and books purchased there will include a signed bookplate. To pre-order a copy, and to receive a pre-order discount, go to https://bit.ly/3b1wANb.
