Agronomy Summit set Jan. 23 at IVCC

OGLESBY – With the Midwest harvest season in the books and spring 2025 coming into view, plan to attend the University of Illinois Extension Oglesby Agronomy Summit. Attendees will hear research updates from university experts to gain insightful tips for making farm management decisions.

The Oglesby Agronomy Summit will be held on Thursday, Jan. 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby.

This year’s conference will feature research updates from University of Illinois faculty specialists, highlighting best management practices in the areas of soil fertility, corn and soybean management, and industrial hemp.

Presentation topics include:

  • Management Strategies with Low Incomes, presented by Dr. Gary Schnitkey, University of Illinois Ag Econ Professor
  • Midwestern Hemp Research Collaborative: Insights into Agronomic Performance and Chemical Traits of Industrial Hemp for the North Central Region, presented by Dr. Chance Riggins, University of Illinois Crop Sciences Professor
  • Current Strategies for Disease Management in Field Crops, presented by Dr. Boris Camiletti, University of Illinois Crop Sciences Professor
  • Corn and Soybean Management Considerations for 2025, presented by Dr. Connor Sible, University of Illinois Crop Sciences Professor
  • Updating Illinois Phosphorus and Potassium Soil Test Recommendations for the 21st Century, presented by Luke Bergschneider, University of Illinois Soils Researcher

Registration cost is $25 and includes lunch.  Continuing education units are available for Certified Crop Advisers.  Register online by Jan. 16, 2025 at go.illinois.edu/AGSOglesby.
