PRINCETON - The first-ever commemorative poster for the Z Tour Bicycle Ride will be unveiled at an artist’s reception on Friday, May 12 at the Sundance Gallery in Uptown Princeton. The reception will take place from 5-7 p.m. during the Chamber of Commerce’s Fashion Fever on Main Street event.
Ossola
The 2017 poster design was created by Courtney Ossola of Granville, a graphics design student at Illinois Valley Community College. The Z Tour partnered with IVCC instructor of graphic design, Francie Skoflanc, to create a poster design competition that simulated a real-world design scenario. Representatives of the Z Tour met with Skoflanc’s class to discuss design requirements as well as attributes of the bike ride and the Illinois Valley that could be incorporated into the poster design.
Four other finalists, Cody Frey of Mendota, Kaitlyn Anthony of Oglesby, Allisa Morrison of Oglesby and Tiana Maupin of Wyanet will also have their work on display.
The Z Tour is in its seventh year and has grown to be one of the largest annual bike rides in Northern Illinois. Last year 700 riders took part in touring routes ranging from 10 to 100 miles throughout Bureau County and helped raise $30,000 for the Zearing Child Enrichment Center in Princeton.
Additional information on the Z Tour can be found at www.ztour.org. The Sundance Gallery is located at 942 N Main Street, Princeton, and features custom picture framing as well art from local working artists.
