AMBOY - Beef, swine, sheep and goats were the focus of a Northern Illinois Livestock Clinic on April 8. The Lee County 4-H Center hosted 28 Northern Illinois area 4-H and FFA members who came together for the daylong clinic to learn about their livestock.
Clinicians Travis Meteer, Darren Lynd and Buddy Haas talked about management of the livestock, how to select livestock for show, what the judges look for and showmanship tips. Participants had the option to stay for a Master Showmanship training after the clinic.
Sponsors of the first Northern Illinois Livestock Show Clinic included Purina Honor Show Chow, Mark Johnson, Sublette Farmers Elevator, Sullivan Show Supply and Weaver Leather. Because of these sponsors, youth attending the clinic received materials and supplies to take home.
