Yield signs going up at Mendota intersection

MENDOTA – The Mendota City Council handled several items of business at its Sept. 19 regular meeting.

ALDERMANIC REPORTS

Alderman Vicki Johnson informed fellow council members that a traffic study was done on Ninth Street from First Avenue to Fourth Avenue. Upon completion, it was recommended that yield signs be installed at the intersection of Ninth Street and Second Avenue.

Alderman Kyle Kim presented an intergovernmental agreement between the Illinois Department of Health & Family Services and the city of Mendota regarding ambulance services. The council approved the agreement.

Alderman John Holland presented several items regarding TIFs. First, it was established that a public hearing will be held on Monday, Nov. 7 at 5:30 p.m. at the Mendota city building on Washington Street for the proposed 2022 TIF.

The council approved the termination of the following: TIF I redevelopment plan, TIF VII redevelopment plan and TIF VIII redevelopment plan.

Finally from Holland’s report, the council approved a 10-year franchise agreement with Comcast for cable television service.

Alderman John Hessenberger’s report included the approval of an ordinance annexing Schweickert property into the city. The property is located east of Plano Molding.

The next regular meeting of the Mendota City Council will be Monday, Oct. 3 at 5:30 p.m.
