Women at our BEST to host year-end program, Oct. 22

OGLESBY – Women at our BEST (Building, Encouraging, Strengthening, and Teaching) will meet on Monday, Oct. 22 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Oglesby Union Church on Walnut St, Oglesby. All area women are invited to attend this free event. Childcare will also be offered.

Kris Paul of rural Oglesby will deliver the keynote address for the final event of the 2018 ‘Our Anchor Holds’ series. Paul has had a distinguished career in human resources including three new company startups: Eakas Corporation, Advantage Logistics, and United Steel Deck. She has served and continues to serve on several local boards of directors. She has been a Sunday School teacher for 47 years and church treasurer for 25 years. Kris has been married to Mike Paul for 50 years, and the two enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren. 2017 and 2018 have been a tumultuous and trying time in Kris’s life which she will share about in her talk, “I Know Who Steers My Ship.”

In addition to the keynote address, Amy Stash and Staci Pruitt, licensed massage therapists, will be discussing the benefits and different modalities of massage.

Amy Stash is a lifelong resident of Peru, where she resides with her husband and two children. She has worked for Illinois Valley Community Hospital since 1996, earning her certificate in therapeutic massage from Illinois Valley Community College in 2000. She specializes in Swedish massage, fibromyalgia massage, prenatal massage, chair massage, and diversified hot and cold stone massage. She is also a certified infant massage instructor and teaches classes at the IVCH Miller Building. Stash has special training in oncology massage and works with cancer clients during their treatment at Valley Regional Cancer Center in Peru.

Staci Pruitt is a licensed massage therapist who began at IVCH this year. She is a lifelong Illinois Valley resident, where she resides with her husband. Pruitt specializes in Swedish massage, fibromyalgia massage, prenatal massage, deep tissue, trigger point, chair massage, and diversified hot and cold stone massage.  She recently received her advanced clinical certificate from Illinois Valley Community College which focuses on three aspects of healthcare: lifespan, chronic diseases, and musculoskeletal problems.

The evening gathering will also include worship music, fellowship, prayer, and homemade autumn refreshments.

Women at our BEST is a non-denominational community Christian women’s group, which sits under the outreach ministry of Oglesby Union Church. All BEST events are designed to be fun and inspirational for women.
